Wasted Entertainment...

It’s amazing what we allow ourselves to be entertained at any cost. If we could count the minutes we have wasted and then multiply that by the amount of things we could have been doing with that time…our bank accounts would be full, our families would want for nothing and our levels of achievement would be historical. But alas we just gonna “re-up” with that income tax money. A good female friend and I had a conversation recently about this need to waste time. She was at a gathering, met a dummy who wanted her number, and gave her some funny, assinine drunken lines. Bored, she was intrigued enough to give him her number because she wanted to be entertained. She could tell from the first sentence he wasn’t her type, intoxicated and obviously not on her educational level (Masters degree). But her boredom with the dating scene in Atlanta caused her to flip a coin and see if he was a better man in a different environment, so she gave him the number. A few days later he calls and the co...

Gifts are Given...

Of course it felt like Monday. The chaos that normally ensues when you hit the jobsite was obvious today. Things were not going well. Things were late…jobs were not being done properly, but I pressed on as the minutes turned into hours. The stress of the morning was oppressive. The stress of the afternoon was even more stifling. But count it all joy. Normally the end of the week is smooth sailing. But normal is a cruel friend that only seems to show up when you don’t need him. I had to take a moment to just breathe and relax. In that moment God gave me a reminder – this job, this life, your assets are His gifts. God has allowed me to be in this position during this season and He is controlling this job. He gave it to me and in His wisdom He can take it away. It’s easy to stress or become frustrated over things that you think you control. But when you realize that you are where you are not because of your intelligence or hardwork or strength or resolve, then the picture becomes...

How Long Halt Ye....

And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word. - 1 Kings 18:21 It is not a game. There is a seriousness of life that we cannot continue to ignore. Look around...extraordinary things, both good and bad, are shaping the state of our affairs; sudden violent weather, wars and genocide, economic recessions, unprecedented numbers of people homeless, hungry, and disillusioned. How long halt ye between opinions? There is an urgency to pick a side. We have been given the freewill to do whatever we please and this freedom makes you responsible to suffer the consequences. And those consequences will be with you and your soul for an eternity. The fence is rapidly being taken down - there will soon be nothing to straddle. In anything, you must commit; you must make a conscious decision to draw a definitive line and truthfully defend your position. We cannot co...

In Your absence...

this lone dedication has grown through inflation my zone needs updating, simply known to beat Satan keep pace, i need patient, breathing laced in each matrix degrees placed in East stations until kings inaugurated they sing of my placement, unrelinquished in these ages please, they beg save us, but i screen screams and toss favors plots they seem tasteless, i brace myself and let energy drain again and again, til the false security and insanity ends i plan to begin, to renew until tragedy ends its sad to see friends, always traveling faster than them its that or the end, enemy to each friend each bend in the road may seem to reach sin dispense with the martyr talk, they dont die...all martyrs walk they dont lie, in fire they fry..until all martyrs talk im scarred in walks, in large to metal bars and stalks too smart to start and maybe too wet to spark collecting darts is old-fashion, in chasms i sense disaster plaster my name in each pyramid while the angels gather... Isolation brings ...

Traitor...

I recently saw this movie starring Don Cheadle and it was quite interesting. Besides the fact that Cheadle has such a diverse acting resume and should have already won an actor of the year award, the storyline was thought provoking. The plot focused on the gray area of terrorism. From all sides, America and its allies versus the "radicals", the logic of everyone was steeped in rhetoric, misinformation, a lack of understanding, and the acceptance of stereotypes with no hesitation. It's amazing how we class large groups of people so instantaneously. We can condemn those we know nothing about. We can watch blood being spilled and as long as it is in the name of our side of "righteousness" then all is seemingly well. Religion outside the of U.S. is astounding - not for the doctrines or the tenets of the religion itself, but for its ability to unify so many people to a common cause and mindstate. Even hatred in unison is extraordinary. Entire countries gather at the...

In 2009...Who Cares?

As we wade through all the debris and all the filth of the new year..reflect. As we try to scour clean the many lies, broken promises and half-truths that shall pervade our essence in the coming days and weeks..think. Who cares? No one. Really. Seriously. No one. You are not special. Get over it. But J.R., I am who I am. So? You are nothing. Yes, you are..are nothing. The world spun a course through galaxies before you stole oxygen from trees. The tributaries of the Euphrates and Tigris joined hands before your soul twinkled under moonlight. But I am who I am.... Yes and I am who I am... No one cares if you author a whole generation of New Year's resolutions. No one cares how you intend to "change your life" this year. You do the same charade every year. The world has seen this show before. Who cares if you "erase" some friends...You might be too late..they may have already removed you from their existence. And who are you that you think these "ex-friends...
