Amazingly I'm Still Tired...

As the new year begins, amazingly i am still tired. Humans are always engaged in things that sometimes defy logic... Still tired... 1. People with $400 cell phones who don't know how to use them because they shouldn't have them in the first place. You can't impress any1 with the newest Iphone or Nokia or whatever smart phone you overpaid for b/c u can't use it. This genius got a phone that can walk the dog, lineup ya hair, & stitch hems and u can't even save the # from a text msg. 2. People with liability insurance on a car that's not paid in full. If you don't know why this is not too smart, you r probably gonna learn an expensive lesson... 3. If you go to a party hosted by some group/person at the college you attended and you don't know half the people there...u r probably too old to be there. 4. If you have at least two kids and 2 different daddies, your should wait until marriage to give the 3rd guy any goodies. 5. A relationship is not 2 people ...

NFL or Brain Surgery?

I wish I could be a fly on the wall for this family discussion. Myron Rolle, a senior defensive player for Florida State was named a Rhode Scholar recipient this year to pursue his aspirations to become a brain surgeon and he also is a projected first-rounder in the '09 NFL draft. Wow. It may be possible for him to do both. But what if it is not? I wonder how he decides. I wonder how I would decide. Let's just say he was projected an NFL contract for say 45 million with 15 million guaranteed. So win, lose, injury, death, hurricane, amnesia - he will still get 15 million for signing his name. But he graduated undergrad in less than 4 yrs. It's not likely that med school would prove a problem. 15 million at least, possible Super Bowl rings and Pro bowl appearances vs. becoming a brain surgeon, one of the most notable doctors of all-time..hmm....

Through His Eyes...

Begin to see through others eyes. It’s a hard thing to do…particularly around the holiday season when you come into contact with friends, old acquaintances, and family that you may not normally see. All of us have been filled with what we think is success. It comes from many sources – family, school, church, media, etc. and depending on your background your idea of success can differ greatly from someone that even grew up in the same house as you. I have to constantly remind myself to see through others eyes. So many times we want to force our value systems, ideals, and aspirations on other people, not realizing that their life is theirs to construct and enjoy. Because you will be the happiest when you get that Masters degree, church wedding, and the 5 bedroom house doesn’t mean that the mechanic that has no degree, is divorced, and lives in a 2 bedroom apartment is not having the time of his life. Think of what kind of world this we be if we were all doctors, lawyers, CEOs and judges...

Cheating is Good...

The world is full of interesting people. I recently met one of these unique individuals and what a “fresh” perspective he added to the idea of infidelity (look it up). I met this gent at a social gathering at a friend’s house. He is the cousin of my friend. They are related but totally unrelated on infidelity. He is married. Unhappily, it seems, for about 6 years. The topic of cheating came up between a few of us when he said he had to go to Atlanta the following weekend to visit a “friend” that his wife certainly would not have approved. Of course some smart guy decided to ask him why he cheated. Yea, I know the code…men don’t ask each other why we cheat. It’s just understood…and if you don’t personally agree you still don’t break the code. His answer. Wow. This is where it got interesting. Have you ever had someone give the most unlikely answer to a question and even though somehow it’s still not a justification it is so logical you just gotta say “hmm, can’t really argue with that...
